리야드, 사우디아라비아 2023년 10월 28일 /PRNewswire=연합뉴스/ -- 제7차 미래 투자 이니셔티브(FII) 포럼이 오늘 사우디아라비아 리야드에서 진행됐다. 이 자리에는 유럽과 중동 국가 장관급 인사들과 아프리카 국가 정상 등 글로벌 리더들이 참석해 최근 10년간 경제적 불확실성과 경기 둔화가 심화되는 상황에서 세계 경제 활성화를 위한 새로운 방안을 모색했다.
'새로운 비전 매니페스트(A New Vison Manifest)'라는 주제로 열린 둘째 날 FII 회의는 신흥 경제국들에게 주어진 도전과제와 기회에 초점을 맞춰 진행되었다. 이번 포럼에서는 브라질, 튀르키예, 남아공 등 새로운 중견국(middle powers)의 발언권이 커지고 암울한 경제적 먹구름이 몰려오는 가운데 각국 경제와 세계무역 개선 방안, 심각한 기후위기에 대한 해결책 마련의 필요성 등이 논의되었다.
이날 오전 열린 본회의에서는 Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Jadaan 사우디아라비아 재무장관과 Mehmet Simsek 튀르키예 재무장관을 비롯해 바레인과 영국의 장관급 인사들이 2022년 2.7%에서 2023년 1.7%로 하락한 세계무역 개선 방안을 논의했다.
Kristalina Georgieva 국제통화기금(IMF) 총재는 "코로나19, 전쟁, 물가 위기 등 외부의 충격이 반복되는 상황에서 가장 큰 변화 중 하나는 우리의 재정 건전성 강화"라며 "지정학적 긴장이 고조되는 상황에서도 우리는 기업의 재정 건전성을 강화할 수 있는 결정을 내릴 수 있다"고 강조했다.
오찬 특별 세션에서는 Paul Kagame 르완다 대통령이 연설자로 나서 르완다가 아프리카에서 경제적으로 성공할 수 있었던 비결을 공유하면서도 미래에 대한 경고의 목소리를 내기도 했다. Kagame 대통령은 "더 많은 아프리카인이 힘을 모아 협력하고 우리가 남들에게 한 만큼 우리 자신에게도 투자할 수 있기를 바란다"면서 "이는 협력에 관한 문제"라고 역설했다. 그는 또한 "아프리카가 전 세계와 협력해 최상의 방식으로 서로에게 도움이 될 수 있기를 바란다"면서 "이는 우리가 앞으로 나아갈 수 있는 방법에 관해 스스로 내린 결정에 기초해야 한다"고 덧붙였다.

오후 세션에서는 레알 마드리드를 거쳐 현재는 알 이티하드에서 뛰고 있는 프랑스 출신 축구스타 Karim Benzema와 Jean Todt 국제자동차연맹(FIA) 회장 겸 UN사무총장 도로안전 특사가 패널로 참석해 문화 간 협력이라는 주제를 집중 조명했다. 패널들은 각국 정부와 다양한 기관이 스포츠의 막강한 영향력을 활용해 비전적 리더십을 보이고 시민에게 영감을 불어넣고 궁극적으로 세계를 서로 더 가까운 이웃으로 만들 수 있는 방안에 관해 논의했다.

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia Oct 26, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- At the Future Investment Initiative (FII), a global summit, in Riyadh today, leading international figures including ministers from Europe, the Middle East, and an African head of state looked at new principles that can help strengthen the international economy amidst the growing volatility and disruption seen over this decade.
The second day of the FII, entitled A New Vision Manifest, gave a focus to the challenges and opportunities available to emerging economies. Giving the stage to new "middle powers" such as, Brazil, Turkey, and South Africa, and the summit looked at ways to improve domestic economies and international trade amidst more challenging economic headwinds, and the ongoing need for critical climate solutions.
In the day's major morning discussion, the Minister of Finance for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, H.E. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Jadaan, and H.E. Mehmet Simsek, Minister of Finance, Republic of Turkiye along with ministers from the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Kingdom explored how to improve global trade, which declined to 1.7% in 2023 from 2.7% in the previous year.

I want Africa to be able to work with the rest of the world to benefit each other in the best way possible, based on choices that we make, as to how we can move forward".
The second day of FII7 also featured a summit on AI and crucial discussions about how AI could and should be regulated, applied, developed and implemented in a wide range of applications for the benefit of human beings in areas such as health, finance and environmental management.
The theme of cross-cultural collaboration was also highlighted in an afternoon session featuring French footballer, Karim Benzema of Al-Ittihad and formerly of Real Madrid, and former FIA President and UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy for Road Safety, Jean Todt. The panellists discussed how governments and institutions can harness sport's unparalleled influence to demonstrate visionary leadership, inspire citizens, and ultimately bring the world closer together.
